What exactly is the Connections Puzzle?

Connections Puzzle is an interesting puzzle game that will test your skills and understanding. Players must locate groups of words that share a common feature or category in this engaging game. CONNECTIONS NYT will keep you occupied for hours with its engaging gameplay and a variety of puzzles.

Gameplay Guidelines

The game provides you with 16 tiles, each with a word or short text on it. Each phase requires you to select four tiles that you believe form a group. The bulk of groups are the same (for example, hail, rain, sleet, and snow), however, there is usually at least one group that relies on wordplay. One challenge, for example, grouped uncertainty, shadow, movie, and vote—all of which may be cast.

If you are mistaken, the tiles will quiver and you will be informed of your error ("one away..."). If you're correct, a colored bar will appear near the top of the board, displaying the four words and their theme, and your remaining tiles will rearrange to the bottom.

You have four options. The game ends when you run out of time, and you can view the answers you missed.

Despite the fact that there are four categories, only three of them must be identified. By the end, there should be four tiles that belong to the same group. Before you submit that last group for your freebie point for some additional puzzle-y fun, try to figure out the topic.

Tips

The goal of the first game is not to find any four-word grouping but to find the groupings that the puzzle creators had in mind. So, when you see your first prospective connection, don't be too quick to pull the trigger. Examine the items you've identified; may any of them fit anywhere else?

It's also a good idea to mentally label what your four possible partners have in common. The game's help screen suggests that the categories will never be as broad as "names" or "verbs," so be sure you've narrowed it down. My initial assumption was simply "weather," however the correct category was "wet weather." After you successfully estimate the grouping, the game will name the topic.
