What exactly is Hondo?

Hondo is a word-guessing game in which you receive points for correctly predicting multiple words in a row. The goal is to score a Hondo (100 points) in as few turns as possible.

Gameplay Guidelines

• When you receive a code word, the game advances to the next one. The last five guesses are still on the board as hints.
• Keep a watch on your energy meter: each inaccurate guess depletes one bar, while each correct guess replaces one. The game is done when your energy runs out.
• Each correct estimate earns one point. Correct answers in a row get you bonus points.
• The goal is to get 100 points (a Hondo) as soon as can.

Tips

• To begin, attempt words using common letters.
• Maintain your attention on the keyboard. Keys that have been highlighted have been spotted; darker keys do not appear in the code word.
• Shuffles and skips are required. They can help you get out of a pickle or allow you to extend streaks for bonus points.
• If you need more information, shuffle it; skip it if you're near to the code word but have too many possibilities to guess correctly.
• Remember that the letters in the code word may repeat.
• There is a method to "cheat" and glance at the board before making your final move...
• Be patient; haste is costly. A high score requires logic, strategy, and good fortune.
