Hulihua
What exactly is Hulihua?
Hulihua is a clone of a popular Hawaiian internet word game. It was specifically designed to enable supporters of indigenous languages to build Wordle versions in their native tongue. The application now includes a list of approximately 400 five-letter words culled from some older material in my possession. As a result, it lacks certain words from the Mmaka Kaiao book, as well as all of the vocabulary from the Pukui/Elbert lexicon. It does provide a more thorough list of valid terms, so you should encounter fewer "not a valid word" warnings for words that do occur in those two books and other dictionaries. I intend to expand the list and, eventually, translate the entire game into Hawaiian.
Gameplay Guidelines
The phrase is displayed as a row of empty spaces after the game randomly selects a five-letter word from the list of permitted phrases. The players must next submit their guesses for a five-letter Hawaiian word.
When you make a guess, the game notifies you of how many letters you successfully identified and whether any of them are in the correct positions. The player has six chances to correctly guess the word.
