What exactly is Squaredle?

Squaredle is a word-formation game in which players swipe and connect letters on a grid to generate accurate words. The word must be at least four letters long. The goal of the game is to find the final word.

Gameplay Guidelines

The game is displayed on a 4x4 grid. When you initially launch the game, you will see a grid of four randomly generated letters. In order to make a valid word, you must connect letters. When you find a valid word, new random letters will appear. If you find a valid term that isn't in the solution, it will be considered a bonus word. While the extra word will not raise your score, it will help you break ties on the leaderboard. As the game proceeds, the grids will fill up with letters. And your goal is to have the last say.

To make all of the tiles green, drag a tile horizontally or vertically and replace it with another (do not drag and exchange tiles diagonally).

When all of the tiles in a column or row are green, the letters form a word from the online dictionary Webster's.

Try to match the target number of swaps to earn the most points. There is a different goal for simple and difficult games, and the goal changes every day - easier games are at the beginning of the week, with the Squaredle 'week' beginning on a Sunday.

• In the first grid, a green tile includes a letter in the correct spot.
• An amber tile indicates that the letter could be swapped with another letter in the same vertical column or horizontal row.
• A yellow tile indicates that the letter could appear in one of the non-green locations in the same vertical column and horizontal row.
• A white tile indicates that the letter cannot be in the same vertical column or horizontal row with a non-green region.
