Stratego
Are you ready to put your tactical skills to the test? Stratego is a classic two-player strategy board game where deception, memory, and strategic planning determine the winner. Played on a 10x10 board, each player commands an army of 40 pieces, ranging from powerful officers to hidden bombs. The goal? Capture your opponent’s flag while protecting your own. With ranks hidden from view, the game is a thrilling contest of bluffing and discovery!
How to Play Stratego
At the start of the game, players set up their pieces on their side of the board, keeping their ranks hidden from the opponent. Each army consists of different ranks, including the all-important Marshal (the highest-ranking piece), General, Scouts, and the vital Spy, who can take down the Marshal if it strikes first. Bombs can protect key positions, but only Miners can defuse them.
On each turn, a player moves one piece at a time. If a piece moves onto an occupied space, a battle occurs—the higher rank wins and the defeated piece is removed. However, if both pieces are of the same rank, both are eliminated. The game continues until one player successfully captures their opponent’s flag or traps them with no legal moves left.
Winning Strategies for Stratego
- Master the Setup – A strong formation is key. Keep your flag well-protected behind bombs, and don’t place it in an obvious corner.
- Use Scouts for Recon – Scouts can move multiple spaces, making them excellent for gathering intel on enemy positions.
- Deception is Key – Bluff by moving lower-ranked pieces aggressively while keeping your high-ranking officers in reserve.
